6 January 1994 – Keith Wells
Baseball-bat murderer Keith Wells was sentenced to die for smashing the life out of two people.
Referring to himself as ‘a predator on the prowl for prey’ Wells, who was on parole for robbery at the time, targeted John Justad, 23, and Brandi Rains, 20, at a pub in Idaho. For no other reason than whim, Wells beat Justad to death with his bat as he was coming out of the loo, followed by Rains when she came to investigate the noise.
Wells was put down by lethal injection in 1994 and, in doing so, became the first, and so far the only person to be executed in Idaho since 1976, when the death penalty was legalised again.
