18 December 1945 – John Amery

John Amery

John Amery

John Amery, a staunch fascist, was hanged at Wandsworth, for treason.

He helped both Hitler and Mussolini spread their propaganda during the Second World War.

Judge Humphreys presiding damningly indicted the part-Jewish 33-year-old:

‘You now stand a self-confessed traitor to your King and country, and you have forfeited your right to live’.

  1. Greg Eichelberger Says:

I’m very surprised you omitted (or were unaware of) the Dec.8, 1953 execution of Carl Hall and Bonnie Heady, two drunk lovers who kidnapped 6-year-old Bobby Greenlease in Kansas City, MO. Hall immediately killed the little boy, but the pair still managed to collect almost a half million in ransom money from the distraut parents. The two went on a bender, of course, were caught, tried and sentenced to death in the gas chamber of the Missouri State Prison at Jefferson City.
I thought this would make a nice addition to your site because the pair were executed together in the two-chaired death chamber. Their final words: Heady asked Hall, “Are you doing all right, honey?” He answers, “Yes, mama.”

    • Cool, thanks for the tip-off. We’ll get researching. Any more like that, feel free to send them our way.
Hope you enjoy the rest of the site.
