Ángel Nieves Díaz received the death sentence for allegedly shooting strip club manager Joseph Nagy.

A convict from Puerto Rica, Díaz professed his innocence throughout his trial up to the day he died. However he’d already done time for second-degree murder and another prisoner testified that Díaz had actually confessed to murdering Nagy in a Florida club in December 1979.

His execution in Florida was particularly gruesome. It took the 55-year-old 37 minutes to die rather than the average 15 and he even had to be given another dose of the lethal cocktail.
