25 November 1912 – Gilbert Smith

Gilbert Smith was sent to the gallows for murder in 1913.

Smith hanged at Gloucester prison for killing his wife Rosabella Smith. He was 35.

Sorry, it is a bit dull today isn’t it?

But we can’t make this stuff up so what can you do?

Well we could mention one you might have missed from Sunday. If you live in the UK Dr. Crippen is like well famous, innit. But if you’re not, have you even heard of him?

It’s a bit weird like that sometimes. I think it’s fair to say that Derek Bentley is a household name in Britain – where we’re based – but most people here have never heard of Barbara Graham (currently the EOTD top ranking post). So what’s all that about?

There endeth the whimsey.
