3 October 2003 – Edward Hartman
It’s yer money I’m after
Hartman was living with Herman Smith Jr, who was 77 at the time of his murder in 1993. A steaming Hartman shot him at close range merely for money and to get his hands on Smith’s car.
The killer then attempted to hide the body, but he soon realised that he was a key suspect, so Hartman buckled and led the police to the corpse.
Despite his obvious guilt, Hartman put up a feisty defence against the death sentence, pleading instead for it to be commuted to life due to extenuating circumstances, including child abuse.
But his pleas were rejected amd Hartman was executed by lethal injection at 2am, aged 39.
