1 September 1954 – Edward Reid

Edward Reid was just 24 when he was hanged in Leeds for the murder of Arthur White.

Reid was housed and finally executed at Armley Gaol, which still stands today. It was finished in 1847 and had four wings each with three floors worth of cells. Executions continued to place there until 1961.
