Albert George Absalom really had his chips after he was found guilty of murder.

A jealous rage gripped Absalom, which was the catalyst that prompted the chip-shop manager to pull a knife on his girlfriend.

The Lancashire lad was found guilty of murdering 26-year-old Alice Reed, according to records held at the National Archives.

Despite the jury recommending that he should be treated with leniency, there was no such luck for the 28-year-old. Absalom was carted off to Liverpool gallows, where he was strung up for his crime by Thomas Pierrepoint and Henry Pollard.
