22 June 1920 – William Aldred

Unable to get his end away, William Aldred decided to end a woman’s life instead.

The cotton worker was enamoured of a workmate, but when she resisted his charm offensive to get her to go out with him, he got offended and slit her throat.

Aldred was had up for the murder of Ida Prescott and found guilty at Manchester. The sentence was death and he was hanged by John Ellis, aged 54.
