2 March 1909 – Ernest Hutchinson

Butcher Ernest Hutchinson used his slaughtering skills to murderous end when he killed his girlfriend in Halifax.

He was found guilty of killing Hannah Maria Whiteley and sentenced to be executed for the crime. As a result, Hutchinson’s sentence took place at the gallows in Wakefield on this day in 1909 – he was aged just 24.
