10 May 1995 – Duncan McKenzie
Montana made history today in 1995 after it executed its first criminal since the death penalty was reinstated in 1976.
As it goes, there was a bit of a race on to see who’d get there first. And the dubious honour went to Duncan McKenzie who’d been found guilty of murdering a school teacher back in 1974.
McKenzie was dosed up with lethal injection aged 43.
